Christmas Sign

I made this quick Christmas sign for my Mom and Dad.  I love the font..still a script but easily read.  Sometimes simple is better!

Our First Christmas as Mr. & Mrs.Ornament

I hand glittered this glass ornament in the color from the wedding.  It says "Our First Christmas as Mr. & Mrs." on one side and "Madi & Zach 2013" on the other in silver vinyl.  I think it's very sweet.  These photos of the glittered ornaments don't do them justice.  They're just gorgeous in person.

Floating Frame Wedding Gift

I made this gorgeous floating frame for my sister to give at a wedding this weekend.  It turned out quite nicely.  The surname is in black and a large font.  The first names of the bride and groom are smaller and an ornate script overlaying the black.  The wedding date is below.  I would have loved something like this when I was married 13 years ago.  I also made them an "our first Christmas" ornament.

Flying Monkeys!

Hahaha!  I made this shirt for myself for Halloween.  I think it's hilarious.  It's using heat transfer vinyl and is only my second shirt with the new material.  My mind is spinning with possibilities!

Mason Jars with Lids and Straws

I just got in these adorable Mason Jars (Tritan Single Wall -25 oz) in and put a split anchor and monogram on it.  I'm very pleased with the result.  I also have them with clear jars and hot pink lids/straws.  Do you need a cute gift for a friend?  Or maybe you need something new with a lid for your desk to drink your water?  This could be it!

Happy Fall, Y'all!

Happy Fall, Y'all...okay, so I ran out of room for "Y'all" on my mom's hand soap.  It's still pretty cute.  My mom wanted this for her guest bathroom and I think this would make a sweet hostess gift too!

Water Bottle for School or Work

I bought these really cute colored water bottles to make for people for school and work.  My friend wanted one for his wife so it has a silver R and then her name layered on top in Tiffany blue.  It turned out nice and he was pleased.  I'm planning to take two of the red ones and make Alabama water bottles for my boys.  I also have these bottles in red, smoke, blue, green, and one more purple.

Patriotic Hand Soap

I made this per the request of my mom.  She wanted a patriotic hand soap for her bathroom for the various holidays.  I love this font (sabrina) with the stars in it.  I tried cutting various flags but because they were so tiny, the stars just didn't work.  Lots of times, they looked like dots.  I settled on this design and used a combination of sparkly and regular matte vinyl.  I must say, the sparkly vinyl is super adorable.  I already know I want to try some more designs in it.

Graduation Water Bottles: New Take on an Old Favorite

We threw a 5th grade graduation party for my son with 3 of his closest friends.  We wanted to do a cute party favor and so I whipped out the old water bottles.  They are just so cute.  I cut a cute graduation logo from the internet and then customized with the kid's names.  I used the Baby Boston font for the boys and Janda Happy Day for the girls.  I put candy and a few individual drink mixes inside.  The kids really loved them.

Jamaica on a Water Bottle

I'm so pleased with how this turned out.  It was a custom order for the Jamaican flag on the shape of the island.  Piecing the design was challenging and new for me and it turned out amazing!  The customer was very happy too!  It's personalized with a name on the other side too.

Skinny Tumbler for a College Freshman

I made this for a friend to give to a high school graduate that starts college in the fall.  She is attending Flagler College and I found the rampant lion on the internet that is their school mascot.  The lion turned out wicked cool.  Her name in neon green completes the skinny tumbler.

Custom Etched Redneck Wineglasses

A friend of mine's daughter married a rancher in Texas and he asked me to etch their ranch brand on to 6 redneck wineglasses.  I finished these last night.  They turned out great!  My dad sandblasted them so the etching is nice and deep.  I love that they are custom for their ranch and hope they get many years from them!

Skinny Tumbler with a Circle Monogram

I made this skinny tumble for Ryan's 5th grade teacher for the last day of school.  I used a neon green vinyl and did a circle monogram for her.  I happened to know her maiden name because she was his kindergarten teacher before she was married.  Now when I see her at school, she calls me "Southern Sandy."  It makes me smile!

When Geeks & Crafting Collide - the Dr. Who Edition

By special request of my brother for his laptop, this week I cut out two Dr. Who decals.  I actually love the way they turned out.  He was pretty pleased too!  He wants the Tardis in white for his car which I'll do next time he visits. (Sorry for the poor pictures, his laptop cover was metallic and the glare was terrible.)  I'm planning to make a home-made light box soon for these pictures.

Heat Transfer Vinyl - Custom Alabama T-Shirt

I've been wanting to try heat transfer vinyl for a while so I finally did it.  This was such a fun project!  I will definitely be doing more in the future.  I've seen so many of these "Keep Calm and ...whatever" sayings for all kinds of things so I thought it was perfect for my Alabama-obsessed boys!  I put together this design for my youngest who was thrilled with it!  I think he has as many ideas as I do for shirts.

You Can Vinyl ANYTHING! Coolers Included

You can vinyl almost anything.  My husband came wagging home with this nifty floating cooler for our pool.  It's basically a little raft with an inflatable cooler inside.  I decided it needed vinyl and put lyrics from Toby Keith's "Red Solo Cup" on it.  Infinitely suitable.  We love it!!

Yellow & Navy Vino2Go

Another custom Vino2Go yellow with navy dots.  It's a new font too - 2 Peas Mr. Giggles.  LOL  The name of it just makes ME giggle.

Vino2Go - Wine Glasses for the Summertime!

Aren't these the cutest?!  I made these for use around the pool.  They're the double-wall acrylic wine glasses called Vino2Go.  I couldn't decide which monogram to use so I did one of each just because I can!  LOL

Baseball Tumblers

This was a custom request from a baseball team.  Each cup has both designs on it.  I'm very pleased with how they turned out.  We selected a 'boyish' font to use and added the baseball and date on the other side.  These were for boys around the 11- 12 year old age range.  My own son this age loved them so I hope the recipients are just as happy!

Mother's Day Tile

I've seen these floating around the internet for a while.  I love the sentiment and always think something handmade is nice.  I get my love of crafting from my mom so what could be more perfect!  This has brown and gold glittery vinyl.

Mickey M0use Clipboard

My son's 2nd grade teacher loves all things Disney so when the room mom asked me to decorate a clipboard for her, I was inspired.  This is the back of the clipboard with the Mickey ears and the W@lt Disney font for her name (sorry for the glare - hard to balance a clipboard, poster board, and phone all at once, lol).  On the front, I also put her name at the very bottom so when papers are clipped on, you'll still see it.  It's going in the gift from the class that get's presented tomorrow. I haven't gotten in feedback yet and I'm excited to hear if she likes it.

Pencil Bouquet for Teacher Appreciation

I just love trolling on Pinterest.  It feeds my need to craft.  I think this turned out amazing.  A huge thanks to http://www.thehappyscraps.com/2011/05/teacher-appreciation-gift.html where this originated!  I found these darling pencils at Target last Easter and the small tin pails too.  How can you go wrong with a little personalization on the bucket?  It's the perfect size to reuse for class room school supplies!  I cut the flowers and out of card stock on my Cricut using an svg I found on the internet somewhere.  I hope my son's teacher loves it as much as I do!

Embroidery on Towels!

There was more excitement today!  My mom (hi Mom!!  :) is teaching me how to embroider on her embroidery machine.  I'm so thrilled!  I found these cute beach towels at Sam's (for $12.98).  They are the huge "sheet" style.  Anyway, she taught me how to line everything up, hoop, add stabilizer, the whole nine yards.  She did the towel on the bottom with me learning along the way.  I did the towel on the top.  My mind is spinning with ideas and I can't wait to learn more and try some new projects.  I'll keep you posted!

Calling All Teachers! How About a Clipboard?

My son's 2nd grade class intern is leaving this week and they're putting together a basket for her as a thank you.  The room mom sent home a clipboard, scissors and paperclip dispenser and I customized them all.  Okay, y'all, how cute did this turn out? Sorry for the poor picture taking...I didn't have enough hands.  This was me with poster board propped in one hand and my phone in the other.

Situation Room

My friend asked me to cut the words "Situation Room" for her home.   It's about 36" long. She put it on her craft/sewing room door.  I think it's absolutely hilarious.  My son suggested we put one on the bathroom door.  LOL We both cracked up at that!

Cusom Hand Sanitizers in Great Colors!

These are for a friend of mine for Teacher Appreciation week at her school.  I'm so pleased with how they turned out.  I can't decide which one I love more!  The navy/yellow with the chevron ribbon is so on-trend and adorable.  And, you can't go wrong with pink/green or the black/white.  I'm working on two more for her in pink/orange and brown/pink color combinations.  I can't wait to see those too!

Cute Little Note Pad

This was a quickie project but it is amazing how one detail elevates a something from average to unique and personal.  This is a cute notebook from Michael's which I added a first name initial too.  I have some others and could put a monogram or a full name on them.  I'm using Janda Chunky for the font which I totally adore.

Teacher Appreciation Idea

This is a cute teacher appreciation idea!  A personalized hand sanitizer, hand soap, and ruler.  I made these at the request of my son's room mom. (shhh...they're for the intern, don't tell her! ;)  Not all initials look great in every font so I looked through quite a few for a good 'V'.  Cute, floral ribbon is always a nice finishing touch.

Car Decal

This was a real change for me.  I cut a St@r W@ars decal for a friend of mine at work.  It's called a Mandalore.  I'm not familiar with it but it turned out great.  Above is a picture after I cut it so you can see the design.  Below is a picture of it installed on his car window.  He wanted black so it would be subtle. I have to say it's wicked cool!

Personalized Tumblers

Two tumblers that I made for my son's Cub Scout leaders as thank you gifts.  The personalization represents their personality.  The bottom cup has the cute neon vinyl which I adore with the lime green.

Rockets, Race Cars, & Jets - Oh My!

I'm a little late on this post but I made these picks for the Cub Scout Blue & Gold Banquet back in February.  They are simple outlines cut in card stock and glued back-to-back on bamboo skewers.  The possibilities are endless.  I put them in pre-made Dollar Store centerpieces.  You could also put a bunch in mason jars with rocks in the bottom.  We needed 35 or so inexpensive and easy to make centerpieces so this fit the bill perfectly.

Our theme was speed so I was on the lookout for "fast" designs.  I found the .jpegs on the internet and stripped out the details so it would cut solid.   Next on my agenda, is to cut something in miniature and make cupcake picks.  How cute would that be?

Hoppy Easter!

I adore this cute bunny peep.  He's sweet whatever size I cut him in.  For this quickie project, I made some hand soaps for my sister, mom, and mother-in-law.  I finished it by putting it in a clear bag and tying the neck with a bow in matching ribbon.  It's just not pictured because it made the image hard to see when I photographed it.  LOVE!

Car Monogram - I Finally Did It!

I finally did it!  I monogrammed my car with my initials.  I used the neon pink vinyl that is my current vinyl love.  I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. My car is a dark grey so I think this compliments it nicely.  Since this is the thicker Oracel 651, I used the wet application method.  It went on perfectly! Email me at southernsandy1@gmail.com if you want one!

Pinewood Derby Awards & Wet Application

Lots of stuff going on lately.  I had another Cub Scout project.  It was time for our yearly Pinewood Derby and I made the chargers/plates again for the "Best of" categories.  I scored some great NEON yellow vinyl which rocked on the black chargers. It's Oracel 651 instead of the usual 631 I have used before.  I got completely frustrated with the application.  I had soooo many bubbles and I tried 5 times and it was a mess every.single.time.  Finally, I posted a question on a crafting blog and someone recommended using the "wet application" method.  From what I can tell, it's basically how vendors that install on cars and trailers do it.  It worked like a dream!  I was so surprised.  You just need a squeegee and a spray bottle with water and a few drops of dish soap.  A spritz on the application surface and the exposed adhesive of your design are all it took.  Best of all...NO bubbles!  I just can't give out items that don't look as good as I can make them.  I will definitely using that application method again!

Cub Scout Blue & Gold Prizes

My sister found these cool wooden chargers for me so I used them as prizes for the Cub Scout Blue & Gold banquet dessert contest.  The theme was "speed" and I found this cool free font to cut the word speed in.  I love when you find a font that meshes so well with the description!  The boys absolutely love winning these.

Valentines & Pinterest Fatigue Syndrome?

Is 6 projects in two weeks too many?  Maybe.  Nonetheless, I find myself hopelessly addicted to Pinterest.  I made my son's Valentines this week.  Better Homes & Gardens actually posted this cute Starburst valentine.  The Cupid's Arrows came from Family Fun magazine.

Family Charger

I've made several of these family chargers over the last year or two.  I made this one for a 40th Anniversary gift for friends of ours.  I tend to favor the silver but they are equally as pretty on a gold charger.  Really, I think any color could be beautiful if it goes with your decor.  I used the Copperplate font because for the name because it's bold and all capital letters - the first letter is a regular capital and the rest are small capitals.  The script is Lucida Handwriting.  It cuts nicely and I like that it is easy to read.  I usually give the charger with a plate stand so it can be displayed.

If you look back to last year, I've also made chargers for Cub Scout events like the Pinewood Derby ( http://www.southernsandy.blogspot.com/2012/03/pinewood-derby-time.html).  You wouldn't think little boys would like something like that but they were thrilled.
